Becoming a practitioner
The second year of the Ayurvedic Studies Program builds upon ASP1 with an emphasis on increasing depth and breadth of knowledge and applying this in a clinical setting.
What will I study?
- Building on ASP1 theory with a greater emphasis on how imbalance develops, root cause (hetu), disease process (samprapti), and treatment (cikitsa).
- Building on assessment of constitution, doshic imbalances, agni, ama, koshta and gati.
- Continue subjects such as Sanskrit, Ayuryoga, Pulse and Marma.
- Ayurvedic herbology
- Shamana cikitsa (manual therapies)
- Marma cikitsa (marma therapy)
- Study of the organs and channels of the body (Srotamsi) and pathophysiology
- Weekly student clinic with members of the public

What happens next?
Graduates of ASP2 are able to work as Ayurvedic Practitioners. You will be competent in assessing clients’ individual prakruti and vikruti, creating and delivering appropriate education and recommendations using dietary, lifestyle and contemplative practices, customized herbal protocols and Ayurvedic treatments to facilitate holistic healing. ASP2 graduates will also be able to work with other healthcare professionals to develop complementary strategies for clients with established pathologies.
Students wanting to continue their education have the option of progressing to ASP3, Ayurvedic Doctor level.
